Meroe Art Gallery (1623 W.N. Ave.) and Authentic Contemporary Art co-sponsored A Soul Revival: A Poetic and Visual Experience of Renewal this past Saturday. The exhibit kicked off with a free opening reception that included two levels of visual art presentations and poetry performances from several accomplished poets, including Baltimore’s own Nina “Lyrispect” Ball.
Metro Art, although not located in the best neighborhood, is a refurbished row home turned gallery that is a true reflection of the changes that are being made to the surrounding area. The walls are plastered with pieces from abstract to realism as well as poems that help explain the meaning behind each piece.
Many locals and DMV residents crowed the venue to get a peek at the art and poetry. The poets put on a great show and also chatted with attendees before their performance. It was an amazing experience and one that is not done often enough.
The free exhibit is running now thru August 1st.
